For this module, I decided to take the roll of the consumer and think about what problems i had when using the internet. In particular there were two websites I used quite often that I had trouble with.
The one I chose to focus on was Couchseats.com. This is a site that is very similar to youtube except the content is specifically acoustic and live sessions from musicians. The issue i had with this website i that when you clicked on a video, a number of suggestions would come up beneath. meaning i would then click on a another video which in turn would bring up another load of suggested videos. This meant that after a short while on the site i had an obscene amount of tabs up on my page. there was no way of liking videos or saving them for later and this was one of the things i wanted to impliment. However, when i came to redesigning the website, unluckily, it was rebranded, redesigned and re launched despite being inactive for a year leaving me no choice but to choose something else and start again which set me back quite a long way.
I went with the other websote i had an issue with, it is excatly the same issue expect with images, not videos. ffffound.com is an image bookmarking site that is invite inly, meaning that i cannot go on and like various images and keep track of what ive liked or see them again at a later date and thats the issues i began with.
for my redesign of ffffound.com i made it look more modern and sleek. As there is no theme to the images, keeping the webpage as simple as possible would prevent on contrasting designs on the page.
I added a about section, a sign in section, a for you section and upload. This means that anyone could join and upload pictures to the site. The for you section used algorythms already imbedded in the original site to make suggestions of images you may like based on previous likes. Also on you personal profile there is simply a collection of the images you have liked making it easy to go back and see them.
I made the site responsive so it could be used on phones and used inspiration from my research to make it as easy and possible to view and use. The mobile site is simply a scroll and like design just like instagram and twitter.
Overall i like the website i have design in such a short amount of time, despite my setback i feel like i have answered the brief successfuly and the site is enjoyable to use.

Research - Design for screen
Phenomenology: a branch of philosophy that explores the structures of conscious experience.
Experience is subjective: we live through them or perform them
Aesthetic appreciation is imbedded within history and cultural diversity.
A knowledge of aesthetics is dependent on knowledge of culture and context.
In todays society, consumers have a short attention span. this is because adverts are becoming more impactful and vital things such as software, websites, phones and all technology re constantly being refined to be as efficient as possible.
the most important part of this user experience design will be to keep that act in mind and avoid making something too complicated.
For my research I looked at various websites and apps that i have used/do use and find enjoyable to use.
The reason i am using personal experience to inform the research desicions is because i am usually the demographic popular websites hope to appeal to; a consumer, young, student female etc
I looked at apple, facebook and estudio on desktop and twitter and instagram on mobile.
Apple is a successful website as it is clean and enjoyable to use. There a moving images and animations that make the experience interactive and a completely unique website template that is extremely responsive when you scroll through, making it enjoyable just to look at.
Facebook is the complete opposite, although I use facebook a lot, the design is frankly terrible, there is so much going on that it makes it really difficult to navigate. It requires experience of the site and websites to be able to use facebook quickly but this is the worst nightmare of the older generation that are starting to use facebook and have limited knowledge. Speaking to my parents about their experience with face book they find the dashboard quote overwhelming and complicated.
Lastly estudio, estudio is very functional and has no problems in that respect but as a young art student (the only consumer of the website) it is not enjoyable to use. The design is basic, not simple, in the sense it has basic navigation features and user experience is quite rubbish. There is only very basic text on a dull background that can make it hard to look through. Something like estudio needs some aspect of enjoyability in order to help encourage students or make students life easier.
It is quite a different story with apps. Because designers/developers have no choice but to make them simple and refined due to the limited space they have. naturally this leads to creative was of designing for ultimate functionality. The best aspect of the two apps I've chose is the scroll and tap features. To use the app is to simply scroll and enjoy the content, something very low effort. Also apps tend to keep you logged in meaning that if you want to like a picture or like a tweet all you have to do is tap. often with desktops you need to log in each time you visit the site, especially if it is a shared desktop.

The Brief - Design for screen
"Create an immersive and engaging screen based user experience for a media of your choice, this could include; website, app, streaming service, title sequence, ident's, onscreen graphic overlays"
We have to create an immersive experience for screen taking into consideration:
We have to create an immersive experience for screen taking into consideration:
The client
_ The problem
_ The target audience
_ The overarching aim of the project (what are you trying to achieve)
As we are not going to be coding the website i think the biggest difficulty will be finding a way to demonstrate my designs appropriately without having complete control of the function and design of a website.
The brief was delivered with a presentation about web design which contained basic knowledge of website languages and other ways to engage with this brief.
