The brief tells us to create a book thats content is of personal interest to us, as ive just started re-reading harry potter, i feel like this may be the way to go for me. When reading the first one it’s evident how some things come as a shock to first years so i started playing with the idea of a guide for first year students.
My aims for this brief are to create a book that conveys information whilst retaining a style that is reminiscent of the Harry Potter films.
Having completed the study tasks most of my research concerning production methods has already been done and making a decision on these will be easy once the content has been created. As for the content im taking inspiration from the graphic art of the harry potter films. I really love the quirky yet modern style of the graphics used within the films so im going to try and figure out my own way of combining these two elements.
Due to the amount of ground work done in the early stages of this module, i found it very easy to visualise what it was that i wanted and how it was going to look, this meant there wasn't
much trial and error it was a case of trying something and it worked and looked how i wanted it to look. In the design process there were very few problems which means there is not much difference between my development and realisation stage. The last things i had to do was just consider how the book was going to come together and if there were any elements i wanted to add in. I decided for thr front cover i wanted to emboss the word “hogwarts” in to it, to represent how the castle is a vast building and community but goes completely un noticed and it adds a sort of “magical” element to the book. Purely for
aesthetic purposes i wanted to place
a translucent page to separate the front cover and body of the book.
